What is the ruling on the Pakistani script, and why were not all Masahif written in the Uthmani script?

It is not permissible to write the Mushaf (Qur'an) with anything other than the Uthmani script. However, there is leniency regarding writing one or two verses in academic books, but not in the Noble Mushaf itself. The Pakistani Mushaf found in the Two Holy Mosques is written in the Uthmani script, but with a Pakistani calligraphy style, and there is no harm in this.

The Pakistani Mushaf follows the methodology of Imams Al-Dani and Al-Shatibi in orthography, and the difference in font type (Naskh, Ruq'ah, Thuluth) is not significant. The names of the Surahs are divinely ordained, and a Surah may have more than one name, such as Surah Al-Isra, which is also called Surah Bani Isra'il. This appellation has been mentioned in two authentic narrations from Ibn Mas'ud and Aisha, may Allah be pleased with them both.
