The answer

A Muslim should not intentionally neglect responding to the (call to prayer) upon hearing it. The majority of scholars view responding to the adhan as a confirmed (prophetic tradition), not an obligation. If the listener does not repeat the adhan at the time of hearing it, they can make up for it immediately after it finishes, before a long time has passed, and then recite the supplications that follow it. If one recites only the supplications without repeating the adhan, there is no harm, but they miss out on the reward of responding to the adhan.
