Does a man's divorce of his wife take effect when he says, "I divorce [my wife, upon me be a divorce] that there be no going to weddings," while in a state of extreme anger?

Anger does not prevent the occurrence of divorce unless it reaches a level that causes a loss of perception. If the oath of divorce was made in a state of anger that led to a loss of perception, then divorce does not occur. However, if he was aware of what he was saying, the majority of scholars hold that the oath of divorce causes it to take effect if the sworn-upon action occurs, while some scholars, such as Ibn Taymiyyah, view it as an oath that requires an expiation for an oath. Our fatwa (definition) follows the opinion of the majority, which is that divorce occurs. It should be noted that swearing by divorce is prohibited.
