Is it permissible to own computer wallpapers that contain pictures of animals?

If the pictures are hand-drawn images of living beings, it is not permissible to keep them, due to the hadiths that prohibit this. However, if they are photographic images that have been digitally processed, this is a matter of dispute among scholars, oscillating between prohibition and permissibility. The more scrupulous approach is to dispose of them and not keep them, based on the hadith: "The lawful is clear, and the unlawful is clear, and between them are matters that are doubtful, unknown to many people. So, whoever avoids doubtful matters has absolved his religion and his honor."
