What is the ruling of Islamic law regarding getting involved with a girl while currently lacking the financial means to marry?

We advise proposing to the girl after performing Istikhara, and completing the legitimate marriage contract to make the relationship permissible. There is no harm in delaying consummation. It has been reported in the Hadith (definition): "There is nothing better for two who love each other than marriage." Marriage is one of the means for facilitating sustenance. Allah (the Most High) says: "If they should be poor, Allah will enrich them from His bounty." And whoever marries seeking chastity, it is a right upon Allah to help him.
