The answer

Filial piety is obligatory even if the parents are abusive or disbelievers. You must be patient with their actions and associate with them in kindness. The distress you feel in your heart is not blameworthy as long as it is not accompanied by overt mistreatment. Disobedience (to parents) is defined as any harm that is not considered minor by custom, and anything not customarily considered disobedience is excluded. It is not permissible to obey the mother in preventing kinship ties. If the son fears his mother's anger, he should maintain ties with his aunt secretly and strive to reconcile between them.
