What is the authenticity of the Hadith: "O Allah, leave no wretched or deprived person among us," then he said: "Do you know who the wretched, deprived person is?" They said: "Who is he, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "The one who abandons prayer"?

The book "Al-Kaba'ir" (Major Sins) attributed to Imam Al-Dhahabi is not reliably ascribed to him; it is, upon investigation, by Al-Haqqi, the author of "Ruh al-Bayan." Abandoning prayer makes a person wretched and deprived, for between a man and polytheism and disbelief is the abandonment of prayer. And whoever misses the Asr prayer, his deeds have been rendered void. The one who abandons prayer is an apostate disbeliever, according to the preponderant opinion. As for the hadith: "O Allah, do not leave among us anyone wretched or deprived... Do you know who the wretched and deprived one is? They said: Who is he, O Messenger of Allah? He said: The one who abandons prayer," it has no basis, and none of the hadith scholars narrated it. What is authentically reported in hadith is sufficient in terms of warning, rendering this one unnecessary.
