If the suitor is suitable, the guardian does not have the right to prevent the girl from marrying him. If he prevents her, he is considered an adil (one who unjustly withholds marriage). In this case, she is permitted to marry with the guardianship of a more distant guardian, or to refer the matter to the Sharia judge to arrange her marriage or order her guardian to marry her off. Nevertheless, it is advisable to turn away from this man unless there is harm in not marrying him, as the guardian is usually keen on choosing a righteous husband for the benefit of his ward.
