Al-Suyuti is Al-Hafiz Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Kamal Abi Bakr ibn Muhammad, and his laqab (honorific title) is Jalal al-Din and his kunya (agnomen) is Abu al-Fadl. He was born in the year 849 AH and grew up as an orphan. He memorized the Quran before the age of eight and began seeking knowledge early. He traveled extensively in pursuit of knowledge to Al-Sham, Hijaz, India, and Maghreb. He authored numerous works in various fields such as (exegesis), , Fiqh (jurisprudence), Siyar (biographies), and history; it is said that they approach 600 books. He passed away, may Allah have mercy on him, in the year 911 AH.
