Is it obligatory to repeat the sleep supplications if a Muslim gets up from his bed after reciting them?
Various adhkar (remembrances) and du'as (supplications) have been prescribed for us before sleeping. Anyone who recites them and then leaves their bed and returns to it will fall into one of three categories:
1. Absence for a short period (e.g., drinking water or answering the call of nature): This absence does not invalidate the previous adhkar. Some contemporary scholars believe it is obligatory to repeat them, but the more preponderant opinion is that repetition is not obligatory. The initial remembrance at the beginning of sleep is sufficient, and there is no harm in repeating them.
2. Absence for a longer period (e.g., eating or watching a program): It appears that one should repeat the adhkar and du'as.
3. Leaving the bed with the intention of canceling sleep and postponing it: It is obligatory to repeat the adhkar and du'as upon returning to bed, regardless of whether the period was long or short. This is similar to the rulings on exiting the mosque.
