What is the ruling on a husband stipulating to his second wife that she not conceive, that she keep the marriage secret, and that she waive her inheritance after his death? Is she obliged to adhere to these conditions, especially if they violate Islamic law? What is the right of the wife and her children to inheritance in this case? And is the wife sinful if she violates these conditions?

The husband's conditions imposed on his wife—such as that she should not bear children from him, or that she should not tell anyone about this marriage, or that she should not claim her share of the inheritance after his death—are all void conditions that are not obligatory to fulfill. However, the marriage contract itself is valid, because these conditions contradict the most important objectives of marriage and the wife's rights. We advise the husband to fear Allah and safeguard the rights of his wife and children. The wife should advise her husband and explain to him the invalidity of these conditions; otherwise, she has the right to refer the matter to the judiciary.
