Is fasting three days for an oath's expiation sufficient, despite being unaware of the obligation to feed first?

Fasting does not suffice as expiation for an oath unless the one expiating is unable to feed [the poor], clothe [them], or free [a slave]. Therefore, whoever is able to do one of these three, fasting is not valid for them.
