Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr al-Siddiq was one of Ali's commanders, sent to govern Egypt in the year 37 AH. He encountered Mu'awiya's army, led by Mu'awiya ibn Hudaij al-Kindi, and fought them until he was killed. It is said that he hid in the house of an Egyptian woman, whereupon Mu'awiya ibn Hudaij apprehended and killed him.
