The answer

Muslim narrated from Aisha that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: «O Allah, I am but a human being, so any Muslim whom I have cursed or insulted, make it a purification and a reward for him.» The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was not a habitual curser or insulter. Rather, such an occurrence from him was rare and served as a mercy, an expiation, a purification, and a reward for Muslims. As for disbelievers and hypocrites, there is no mercy for them. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, prayed for Daws to be guided while they were still disbelievers.
