The answer

Alzheimer's is dementia, and an individual afflicted with it is treated like an insane person; thus, religious obligations do not cease for them, and their ownership of their wealth remains. Their wealth is not to be distributed among heirs and should only be spent for their benefit. They are to be interdicted and prevented from disposing of their wealth. A case must be brought before a Sharia court to appoint a guardian over their wealth. If no such court exists, her children should agree on someone to manage her wealth. The guardian must strive to preserve her wealth and spend it only for her benefit, and pay the obligatory zakat due on it.
