Is it permissible to seek divorce from a husband who demands intercourse before the wedding, spies on messages, makes false accusations, and insults and slanders?

When a man enters into a valid Islamic marriage contract with a woman, she becomes his wife, and all that is permissible for a husband with his wife becomes permissible for him with her. However, if they agree to postpone consummation, or if it is customary to do so, the husband must abide by it, based on the hadith: "The conditions most worthy of fulfillment are those by which you make intimate relations lawful."

The husband has committed several Islamic violations: 1. His accusation of the wife regarding her virginity, which is an ugly accusation that falls under the category of slander (Qadhf). 2. His pursuit of the wife's private matters and spying on her privacy, which violates the saying of Allah the Almighty: "And do not spy," and the saying of the Prophet, peace be upon him: "Neither spy nor seek out secrets." 3. His cursing of the wife, based on the saying of the Prophet, peace be upon him: "Insulting a Muslim is a transgression (fusuq)." The husband must repent to Allah for these sins.

As for the wife, we advise her to be patient and not to rush into seeking a divorce, for what emanated from the husband might be a fleeting satanic impulse. If the husband repents and returns [to righteousness], then that is good and excellent. But if this is a permanent characteristic of his, then she has the right to seek a divorce before the marriage is consummated and matters become more complicated.
