Is the intention to make up for a Ramadan fast valid if it was made before dawn, but the person was overcome by sleep, causing him to miss the opportunity to affirm the intention at dawn?

"Formulating the intention (niyyah) for obligatory fasting at night is a condition according to the majority of scholars, and this occurs when the intention is made between sunset and dawn. If you intended to fast the make-up (qada') day on the night preceding the day of fasting after sunset, then your fast is valid. However, if you renewed the intention before sunset, your fast is invalid and you must make up another day, due to the hadith: "Whoever does not make the intention to fast before Fajr, there is no fast for him." Resolving to fast tomorrow at any part of the night is sufficient to fulfill the intention."
