What is the evidence that the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, attained faith before action? What is the importance of the Companions' methodology in acquiring faith? The prophets used to begin their call with the affirmation of God's Oneness (Tawhid) before all other obligations, for deeds are the fruit of sound belief. Following the methodology of the Companions is a means to guidance. Among the best ways to attain faith is to engage in da'wah (inviting to Islam), study the two revelations (Qur'an and Sunnah), and ponder over the manifestations of God's Lordship. Faith increases through the remembrance of God and contentment with Him. A Muslim should follow the Companions in their faith, their call, and their understanding of the revelation, for they are the best of this Ummah, the most knowledgeable, and the purest. The path to salvation when the Ummah diverges is to follow what the Messenger and his Companions were upon.
