The answer

It is not permissible to backbite, insult, or curse a prophet, and whoever does so is a disbeliever. As for Christians, it is permissible to backbite and insult them. It has been reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said regarding one whose obscenity is avoided: "Indeed, the worst of people is he whom people abandon - or leave - to avoid his obscenity." Cursing them is also established. Insulting disbelievers and their deities is permissible, unless it is feared that a greater harm will result, such as insulting Allah the Almighty, or His Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, or the religion of Islam.
