What should the children, including the questioner, the brother, and his fiancée, do with a mother who mistreats everyone, whose actions suggest malice and hatred, who causes depression for everyone around her, who threatens her daughters with death, and who feigns sadness while applying kohl to her eyes?

The actions mentioned indicate the mother's poor morals, and morals are the foundation upon which nations are built. Prophetic texts have emphasized the importance of good character. Her children should advise her gently and supplicate for her, and they should be keen on honoring her and seeking her pleasure in matters that do not involve disobedience. All the aforementioned abuses do not justify severing ties or ill-treating the mother. One should not waive their inheritance except in a manner befitting her as a mother. The matter of inheritances should be referred to the Sharia (definition) courts for investigation and to safeguard the rights of all parties.
