Is it permissible to take a loan from the bank to purchase goods and pay customs duties and shipping costs to avoid usury and the unlawful?
It is not permissible to borrow with usury (riba) to purchase goods, pay customs duties, or cover shipping costs, because usury is one of the gravest sins. One can, however, seek a partner who provides capital in exchange for a known percentage of the profit, or purchase goods on credit and then sell them for immediate cash (Tawarruq), which is permissible. Whoever fears Allah and relies upon Him, He will provide them with a good provision and suffice them in what concerns them.
