Is there a knowledge better than [another] knowledge? And what is the ranking in terms of preference?

The best sciences are the science of the Qur'an and Sunnah, and the jurisprudence derived from them. This is followed by linguistics, which aids in understanding them, and then beneficial worldly sciences for Muslims. Ibn Abi Zayd said that the foremost and best of sciences is the science of Allah's religion and its laws, and gaining a deep understanding of them. Al-Nawawi considered that among what must be learned are the methods of worship, what must be believed, knowledge of the lawful and the unlawful, and diseases of the hearts and their remedies.
