The answer

Obeying parents is not obligatory when they command their son to divorce his wife if they do not have a legitimate and acceptable reason. The fact that a woman was previously married or has children is not a legitimate excuse for divorce. The husband should try to convince his mother to be content. If she does not agree, then he is not obliged to obey her regarding divorce. He must continue to honor her and treat her kindly. It is not permissible for the mother to accuse the wife of sorcery without proof. If they strongly suspect that they have been afflicted by sorcery, they should resort to Ruqyah Shariah (Islamic exorcism).
