Is it permissible to choose one of two young men for marriage while feeling confused and contemplating repentance from accumulated sins? And how can one achieve sincere repentance and deal with the young man who cannot live without her?
Negligence in prayer is a serious matter, and it is obligatory to maintain it, for Allah the Almighty says: ﴿But there came after them successors who neglected prayer and pursued desires; so they are going to meet ghayyā (a severe punishment)﴾. And whoever maintains it, it will be a light, a proof, and a salvation for them on the Day of Resurrection, and prayer restrains from indecency and evil.
Establishing relationships with foreign men is forbidden and a gateway to temptation and corruption, and one must repent from it.
Marital life requires sound foundations; among them is choosing a righteous husband who possesses good character and religious commitment, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “If there comes to you one whose character and religious commitment you approve, then marry him.” And Al-Hasan Al-Basri’s advice: "Marry her to a man who fears Allah; for if he loves her, he will honor her, and if he dislikes her, he will not wrong her."
A woman should follow the path of righteous women and seek a righteous man, seeking help from Allah, then from trustworthy individuals. It is permissible for her, according to Islamic law, to seek husbands and offer herself to one of the righteous men she desires.
