Is someone who unintentionally caused his mother's death during her treatment considered a disobedient child (ʿāqq), and what should he do to atone for that?

If someone gives a sick person medicine incorrectly, leading to their death, they are obligated to offer expiation (kaffara), which is fasting for two consecutive months, along with repentance, if they acted out of ignorance. As for blood money (diya), it is incumbent upon the 'aqila (male relatives on the father's side) of the killer, unless the heirs of the deceased waive it.

Ibn al-Qayyim and al-Khattabi mentioned that an ignorant doctor who exceeds proper bounds in their work and causes harm to the patient is liable for compensation. The same applies if they err in prescribing medicine, leading to the patient's demise.
