It is permissible to transfer the zakat amount to trusted charitable organizations for distribution. The default is to disburse zakat to the poor in the country where the money is located. It is permissible to transfer it if there is a need, such as if the poor in the country to which it is transferred are in greater need, or if they are relatives of the zakat payer and are poor.
