What is the Sharia ruling on dealing with a mother addicted to visiting charlatans and sorcerers, who tries to convince her son’s wife to go with her or to give her clothes to break a spell, and is it permissible to prevent her from visiting the house, knowing that she claims righteousness and conceals her actions?

Your duty is to honor your mother and treat her kindly. It is not permissible to accuse her of witchcraft without proof. You must advise her with wisdom and good counsel regarding the soothsayers. The ill-treatment of one parent does not nullify the duty of honoring them, and companionship with them in kindness is obligatory. Do not prevent your mother from entering your home, as that is an act of disobedience ( 'Uquq ). The definition of 'Uquq is: "When a child causes significant harm, customarily speaking, to one or both parents." However, if you fear that she might corrupt your wife, ward that off with stratagem and wisdom; do not let her be alone with your wife and prohibit your wife from listening to her.
