What is the ruling on eating meat slaughtered in European countries that dies from electric shock before ذكاة (Islamic ritual slaughter), and is it permissible to adopt the fatwas of some scholars who permit eating the food of the People of the Book?

The slaughtered animals of the People of the Book are permissible if the شرعية (Shar'i, Islamic legal) slaughter is performed; otherwise, they become carrion. If news becomes widespread that local meats are not slaughtered according to Shar'i requirements, then one must be cautious and refrain from eating them. The report of a single trustworthy person is acceptable and must be acted upon.

There are three scenarios: 1. Knowing that the slaughter is Islamic: The slaughtered animal is permissible. 2. Knowing that the slaughter is not Islamic (such as killing by strangulation, electrocution, or without uttering the name of Allah): The slaughtered animal is impermissible. 3. If rumors abound concerning unlawful slaughter, investigation becomes obligatory.

The European Council for Fatwa and Research decided that consuming poultry and beef is impermissible due to violations in the slaughtering method, whereas the method of slaughtering sheep and young calves may be compliant with Shar'i conditions in some countries.
