Is it permissible to lie to one's wife by claiming a previous divorce that did not occur, with the intention of deterring her, and does the divorce actually take effect if this is done?

The Shariah permits a husband to lie to his wife for the purpose of reconciliation and showing affection. However, lying about divorce has negative consequences, and some scholars hold that divorce occurs with it even if it is a lie. Therefore, it is preferable to avoid this and use allusions and circumlocutions.
