If the intention is to visit the parents without prior notice, there is no objection as long as it does not cause harm. However, it is preferable to inform them so they can prepare to receive the visitor, especially if this is customary, based on the Almighty's saying: "O you who have believed, do not enter houses other than your own houses until you ascertain intimacy and greet their people."

As for entering their presence, permission is obligatory due to the aforementioned verse. The manner of seeking permission is for the visitor to say: "Peace be upon you, may I enter?" The means of seeking permission vary with different environments and eras.
