The answer

A husband must provide independent housing for his wife if he is able to do so, and he is not permitted to deprive her of this right. A mother is not permitted to ask her son for something that harms his wife and children, and obedience is not obligatory in such a case. The husband must fulfill the rights of everyone entitled to them: he should be dutiful to his mother and obey her in what is good, and he should provide for his wife and children, clothe them, and house them in suitable accommodation. Wronging the wife and depriving her of her rights is a sin, and obedience to the mother does not absolve one from accountability, for there is no obedience to a creature in disobedience to the Creator.
