The answer

"What is prescribed during a solar or lunar eclipse is prayer, along with remembrance [dhikr], seeking forgiveness [istighfar], glorification [takbir], giving charity [sadaqaat], and freeing slaves, due to the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Indeed, they are two signs among the signs of Allah; they do not eclipse because of the death of anyone, nor because of his life." And his saying: "So when you see something of that, then hasten to His remembrance, and His supplication, and His seeking of forgiveness." And in another narration: "Then pray and supplicate until what is upon you is removed."

The is for the Imam to lead two rak'ahs, with two recitations, two bowings [ruku'], and two prostrations [sujood] in each rak'ah. If the eclipse does not clear after the prayer, people should engage in the remembrance of Allah, supplication, seeking forgiveness, glorification, and giving charity. Re-performing the prayer is not legislated."
