It is narrated in Sahih Muslim on the authority of Jarir ibn Abdullah that he said: "I asked the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, about the sudden glance (nazar al-fujā'ah). He commanded me to avert my gaze." And in Sahihayn (Bukhari and Muslim), it is narrated on the authority of Ibn Abbas that he said: "Al-Fadl was riding behind the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, when a woman from Khath'am came. Al-Fadl began to look at her, and she at him. So the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, began to turn al-Fadl's face to the other side."
