What is the ruling on revenge and vengeance in Islam for someone who has been subjected to great injustice and whose life has been disrupted?

Allah Almighty has permitted retaliation in kind against an aggressor, as He says: (So whoever commits aggression against you, aggress against him in like measure as he aggressed against you) and His saying: (And the recompense of an evil deed is an evil deed like it). However, forgiveness is better. This applies to the rights of people, for example, if an aggressor strikes you, you have the right to seek retribution from him before a Sharia judge. As for the rights of Allah, such as tyranny in governance or betrayal concerning one's family, aggression in kind is not permissible, because that is an aggression against the rights and limits of Allah.
