Is it permissible to combine the second salutation of prayer (to the left) with the intention of greeting those who are sitting?

If the worshipper intends by the first salutation to exit the prayer, and then says the second one aloud to greet those sitting in the mosque, there is no harm in that. However, if he intends by the second salutation both to exit the prayer and to greet those sitting, this is contrary to what is superior (khilaf (definition) al-awla), yet his prayer is valid; because the prayer is valid without the second salutation.
