How can a friend who refuses to marry be convinced, despite his considerable financial means and the fact that he is his parents' only child, and despite having been told the words of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: "Marriage is my Sunnah, and whoever turns away from my Sunnah is not of me," to which his response was: "Perhaps I will marry in my fifties"? How can he be made to desire marriage?

Allah created humankind, male and female, and instilled in them the instinct of inclination of each towards the other. There are texts that encourage marriage and make it desirable.

Marriage, given the soul's yearning for it, is better than drawing closer to Allah through supererogatory acts of worship, due to the many benefits it encompasses.

Marriage is a Sunnah, and it may become obligatory for one who fears falling into fornication by not marrying. One should hasten to it and not delay it.

Explain to your brother the importance of marriage in a kind and gentle manner, for he may have an excuse for his lack of desire, and abstaining from marriage is better for someone who has no sexual desire.
