Must stolen money be returned at the sale value or the original value of the stolen items?

Stolen items, or their value at the time of theft if the items themselves cannot be recovered, must be returned. They must be returned to the institution from which they were stolen by any possible means, without requiring notification of the officials about the theft. If the theft occurred after reaching puberty, the thief must repent to Allah for it.
