Should I continue supplicating for the deceased after reciting Al-Fatihah in the funeral prayer if the Imam delays the second Takbir, relying on the opinion of the Malikis, or should I wait for the Takbir?

The Maliki school of thought holds that supplication (du'a') is a pillar of the' Janazah' prayer and occurs between each two 'takbirat' (utterances of 'Allahu Akbar'). The minimum for this supplication is: "O Allah, forgive him and have mercy on him." It is permissible for a Muslim to follow this school of thought, supplicating for the deceased after Al-Fatiha and after each 'takbira'. Some scholars, such as Ibn Taymiyyah, have favored the view that reciting Al-Fatiha is not a prerequisite in the 'Janazah' prayer, and that limiting oneself to supplication is sufficient, as the primary purpose of the 'Janazah' prayer is to supplicate for the deceased.
