Is it permissible for a wife whose postpartum bleeding (nifas) has ceased after 15 days from childbirth to pray, fast, perform 'Umrah, recite the Qur'an, and undertake all religious obligations, or must she wait 40 days?

The majority of scholars and the four Imams hold that there is no minimum limit for lochia (nifas (definition)). Thus, once a woman becomes pure, she must perform ghusl (definition) (ritual bath), pray, and fast, even if this occurs before forty days. Al-Tirmidhi reported the consensus of the Companions and the Tabi'un on this matter. Sheikh Ibn Baz permitted a woman in nifas to fast, pray, perform Hajj and Umrah (definition), and engage in marital relations with her husband if she becomes pure before forty days, and if the blood returns, she considers it nifas. The Permanent Committee affirmed this, stating the validity of a woman's fasting if she becomes pure during Ramadan (definition) before forty days.
