What is the ruling on encouraging a sick Christian woman to utter the two testimonies of faith, which she repeats without understanding their meaning, yet she praises the name of Christ when given a rosary?

Teaching a sick disbeliever the two declarations of faith (Shahadatayn) is a good act, stemming from the principle of inviting him to Islam to save him from Hellfire. This is supported by the actions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) with his uncle Abu Talib and with the Jewish boy. It is prescribed to teach the disbeliever both declarations of faith together: "There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah." It is not sufficient to say only "There is no god but Allah," because a disbeliever does not become a Muslim except by both. It is also important to explain the meaning of the two declarations of faith to the dying disbeliever so that he says them out of conviction and sincere belief.
