The answer

Lying is forbidden (); it leads to immorality and Hellfire. It is only permitted out of necessity or for a legitimate interest that cannot be achieved otherwise. If lying is coupled with an oath, it is a perjurious oath (al- al-ghamus), which is one of the greatest major sins. The majority of scholars believe it is too grave to be expiated, so its perpetrator must engage in sincere repentance and perform many good deeds. Some scholars are of the opinion that an expiation for an oath is required (feeding ten poor people, or clothing them, or freeing a slave, or fasting three days). If the lie results in material harm to others, then the right must be restored.
