The answer

It is permissible for a menstruating woman to enter the mosque for passage when necessary, but not to stay there, based on what was narrated from Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would place his head in the lap of one of us—while she was menstruating—and recite the Quran, and one of us would go to the mosque and spread her head covering. Staying is prohibited based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Indeed, I do not permit the mosque for a menstruating woman or one who is in a state of major ritual impurity (junub)."
