Is it permissible to recite Surat Al-Fatihah when making supplication (Du'a), or is that considered an innovation (Bid'ah)?

It has not been reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that he recited Surat Al-Fatihah when supplicating. Therefore, deliberately doing so and specializing it is considered an innovation (bid'ah), as there is no authentic evidence of him doing it or guiding to it. The Permanent Committee for Issuing Fatwas, Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen, and Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Barrak have all affirmed that reciting Al-Fatihah before or after supplication is an innovation for which there is no basis.
