How should a husband deal with his wife who has apostatized from Islam, due to doubts about the Prophet's marriage to Aisha when she was six years old, her perception that Muslims worship Muhammad, her objection to male guardianship and the deficiency of women's rights, her likening of the Qur'an to Bid'ah (innovations), and her refusal for their child to be Muslim, knowing that she claims she was forced to enter Islam?

The preponderant view, in our opinion, is that a wife's apostasy from Islam suspends the marriage until the completion of her iddah (definition) (waiting period). If she returns to Islam before its end, the marriage remains valid; otherwise, it is dissolved.

We advise you to clarify the truth to your wife and seek help from righteous women. If she insists on apostasy until her iddah ends, the marriage will be dissolved.

In this situation, the child is ruled to be Muslim, because they follow the religion of the better of the two parents. This is the view of the Hanafis, Shafiis, and Hanbalis.
