Is the statement that it is permissible to build mosques over graves, based on the verse: (Those who prevailed over their affair said, "We will surely take a place of worship over them") correct?

The Islamic Sharia has brought a severe prohibition against building mosques over the graves of prophets and righteous people, due to the polytheism (shirk) and exaggeration (ghuluw) it leads to. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed those who did so and warned against it. Authentic hadiths also contain explicit prohibitions against taking graves as places of worship, stating that this was the practice of the Jews and Christians, and that those who do so are among the worst of creation. The four Imams and others have unanimously agreed on this prohibition. As for what is mentioned in the story of the People of the Cave, Allah's recounting of the leaders' statement about building a mosque over their shrine is not an endorsement or approval, but rather a condemnation and repulsion. Our Sharia abrogates previous laws, and the Prophet's prohibition in this regard must be followed.
