If the employer gives permission, then there is no harm in taking it; otherwise, it is not permissible. However, two matters must be noted: Firstly, if the transaction involves usury and the commission is taken on that basis, then this is impermissible due to it being an assistance in usury. Secondly, if the commission is permissible, it is stipulated that there should be no deception of customers or withholding of advice, because "religion is advice."
