Does a person's statement, "I am from Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah" (the People of the Sunnah and the Community) or "I am from the Saved Sect," constitute a self-commendation before Allah?

The blameworthy self-praise is to laud oneself and absolve it of defects and sins. However, a person's affiliation with the Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah (Sunnis) does not fall under this category; rather, it is an articulation and clarification of the correct belief. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah stated that there is no fault in someone who openly declares and affiliates with the methodology of the Salaf (pious predecessors); rather, this should be accepted from him because the methodology of the Salaf is the truth. So, whoever conforms to it outwardly and inwardly is a true believer. As for whoever conforms to it outwardly only, he is a hypocrite, and his outward declaration is accepted, while his inner intention is left to Allah.
