The husband is advised to consult the Sharia (definition) court or scholars to clarify how the divorce was issued and what he intended when he wrote it. The written divorce, being a kinayah (allusion), depends on the husband's intention. If he intended divorce, it occurs; otherwise, it does not. Furthermore, the statement "You are divorced, divorced, divorced" effectuates a single divorce unless the husband intended three. As for the statement "You are divorced by three," there is a difference of opinion: some scholars hold that three divorces occur, which is the view of the majority, while others believe that a single divorce occurs. The relationship between spouses must be based on ma'ruf (goodness and kindness), and divorce is not a solution to problems.
