Is Zakat obligatory on a wife's money that has reached the Nisab and one year has passed on it, knowing that it is deposited with her family, given that the husband is in debt and has saved the money to pay off his debt, and he does not pay from his monthly income?

Zakat on wealth is obligatory for its owner, not for anyone else, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Inform them that Allah has made it obligatory for them to pay a charity that is to be taken from their rich and given to their poor."

Therefore, you are not obliged to pay Zakat on your wife's wealth; rather, she is obliged to pay it herself.

If the wealth is a debt that is likely to be repaid, she must pay Zakat on it every year. However, if the debtors are insolvent or deny the debt, then Zakat is due on it for one year only when it is received, even if it has remained with them for many years.

If the wealth is a deposit with them, then Zakat is obligatory on it for every year.
