Is it permissible to fast on Friday during the month of Rajab?
It is forbidden to single out Friday for fasting, except in two cases: First, if one fasts a day before it or a day after it, based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "None of you should fast on Friday unless he fasts a day before it or a day after it." Second, if it coincides with a habitual fast, such as coinciding with the day of Ashura, based on his (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Do not single out Friday for fasting among other days unless it is a fast that one of you habitually observes." It is disliked to single out Friday for fasting, but it is not disliked if it is joined with another day or if it coincides with a habit. There is no harm in fasting Friday of Rajab if it is connected to a condition or a habit, though it is preferable not to single it out for fasting.
